And I think the jetlag is finally going...
Florida was fabulous.
Very hot and humid, but splendid all the same. The villa we were staying in was brilliant, with the heated pool very welcoming in the morning and after a day out.
We avoided all things too touristy - sorry! no Disney trips for us!
Instead we went to Winter Park in Orlando on a lake tour, to Bok Tower Gardens, Leu Gardens and a required visit to see the utterly awesome Sunshine Skyway Bridge. I do love bridges.....!
But I did it.... I managed to convince my parents that a game of adventure golf HAD to be done.... They duly agreed and we visited the Hawaian Rumble course on International Drive. And what fun they had! We were - quite frankly- crap. But we laughed an awful lot and ignored the score sheet. They were great sports and even wore the red hibiscus lei for photographs (which turned out crap. Damn!)
Of course - shopping was squeezed in as well - and the suitcases bulged painfully for the return trip home. Too much spending on clothes, shoes (3 pairs of Birkenstocks, 1 pair of trainers, 2 pairs of converse baseball boots - although those were for friends!), perfume, duty free, a new straw hat... oh - and an unsurprising large pile of goodies from various scrapbooking shops in and around Orlando.
All in all - a splendid holiday!
But what is even nicer, is the return to work with things to look forward to.
A visit to Scotland to see TheChap this weekend.... Scrap Manic the weekend after.... a big bonfire party on November 5th.... a trip to Amsterdam with TheChap on the 17th..... fantastic!
All these things to look forward to are preventing the post holiday blues.
